Interested in earning hands-on experience
in your career path of choice?
Our Internship Program may be for you! Our internship experience is an exciting learning opportunity for college students and self-motivators to participate in various departments here at Idle-Hour Ranch to achieve learning goals associated with their field of study.

Interns will be carefully monitored by the Volunteer Manager and their superiors to ensure that all have an opportunity to actively participate in their learning experiences of choice, and if applicable, that they meet the requirements of their educational institution for academic credit. The program features a learning agenda complete with objectives, observation, reflection, evaluation, assessment, safety training, and periodic performance evaluations.

Internships generally last for 14 weeks, and are performed during IHR business hours.

What do I include in my Application Packet?

Why TB and Tetanus if my internship has nothing to do with animals?

What should I include in my Application Essay?

The Printout of the Application Packet will include forms such as the Application, Release, and Disclaimer. These items need to be filled out completely in order to be considered for the Internship Program.

You are also responsible for providing the Letter of Recommendation, Requirements for Credit (if applicable), Resume, Essay, and TB/Tetanus proofs.
IHR requires proof of Tetanus vaccine and negative TB test results from all interns in order to safe guard the health of both our interns and animals alike. This is true even if
the intern is not in a field of study that works directly with animals, as chances are, they will still be coming into close contact with the animals at some point during their internship.
We ask for an essay in order to help us get to know you a little more prior to any interviews. We are looking to learn from your essay why you are interested in IHR's Internship Program, your past experiences in relation to the internship field you have chosen, how you learned about IHR, and what you hope to learn by your experience in our Internship Program.
